The Lynda Carter Edition

Well, that probably caught your attention!

If you don't know who Lynda Carter is, time to tap into your 1970's TV trivia . . .

Ok, no time for that.

Lynda Carter, in addition to being Miss USA in 1973, is most well-known for her role as Wonder Woman. This iconic fem transitions from a life-saving nurse Diana, into a world-saving heroine (she has to save the dudes first . . . shocking) in just a few quick twists.

Yeah, she's pretty awesome.

Lynda Carter's character, Wonder Woman, was a breakthrough in a woman in a leading role and represents every hard-working, resilient and courageous woman we know. Lynda Carter explains it best, "Wonder Woman is much more than a cartoon character. She’s fighting for truth and justice and the secret self that exists in all women and girls. There’s a moral fiber and a goodness about her that all women have."

You may feel like the woman trying to do it all, welcome to the club. As women, we strive for balance and perfection, social excitement and mindful calm, healthy bodies and healthy body images, personal accomplishment and family cohesiveness. Yet, with all the hats we wear, we want to experience life with ease (kind of like Wonder Woman's twirl). Often though, it doesn't always play out that way.

So what is this post about anyway? Woman? Yes. Fashion? Absolutely. But really, it's about you and your transition from one super woman role to another. So whether it be from working boss lady to engaging socialite, or maybe attentive soccer mom (we do baseball). This post adds ease to your fashion as you help save the world (or at least your kid from forgetting his uniform).

The Twirl (Almost as good as a 1970's film effect)

When we talk about transitions from one role to another, whether you're going from the 9 to 5 to the bar or the field, the quick shift in little time requires three things in your workdrobe choice for the day.

  1. LAYERS

  2. SHOES

  3. MATERIAL

Check out my examples below:

Working Woman to Classy Socialite

  1. Layer your day with a cami and cardigan. I suggest the long cardigan. The flow of a long cardigan, while still professional, has a more leisurely look in case cooler weather prevails and you need to leave it on when out.

  2. Shoes should be heels or wedges, but comfortable ones. The height elevates (no pun intended) the overall look and the comfort of a shorter block heel or wedge allows you to endure a few extra hours on your feet and still look stylish.

  3. Most materials are acceptable for this transition: A silk cami is classic chic. A cotton shift dress, timeless. Just remember to level up cotton with your signature "sparkle" (shoes, accessories, color) if you're headed out on the town.

Boss Babe to Biggest Fan

  1. Again, layer your day with a cardigan. Focus on earthy or neutral hues from top to bottom that reflect a more casual mood and make sure whatever you wear under is agreeable with the elements you may encounter.

  2. Shoes. If you want to wear your traditional heels to work, don't forget a casual sneaker to slip on en route to the game (heels and fields are a no, no). Not interested in the hassle of the extra baggage? (There's enough to think of in the morning anyway, right!) Just wear a neutral flat; a look acceptable for either role.

  3. Cotton. Cotton. Cotton. While your pants may include a little nylon, keep the top, up clean and casual.

Above all else, remember that the Wonder Woman in all of us comes from within and that fashion is just the fun part! Confidence in what we wear, can reflect how we feel and the energy we give off whether it be at work, a social setting or the sidelines. So go ahead, give it a twirl and get ready to save the world (or at least your kids and husband - LOL).
